Wholesome Living
Almost settled in my new place! After two weeks of moving and packing, having my bronchitis come back again during that time, one window pane corner to the head, one bookcase falling on my head as well, a large Pottery Barn wooden coffee table tumbling onto my left leg leaving a gorgeous purple bruise about six inches long, and stubbing my toes about a dozen times as I weaved through the labyrinth of boxes in my room…I’m almost settled!! Whewww! What a last couple of weeks!
But one small area I made sure was all clean and organized in my mass mess of a room is my desk area. Looking out to a sprawl of trees as the sunlight streams through, it’s quite the little working nook that I’ve created for myself.
Which leads me into my next idea that I wanted to share:)
I am extremely passionate about Interior Design. Growing up with a dad that designed and hand-made furniture, and a mom as the artist painting on my dad’s creations my whole life, I was surrounded with creativity. So its only natural that some form of design is in my blood. So I’m going to be adding some projects here and there that I will be doing along with my recipes and articles. After all, I am the Wholesome Gal….Wholesome Eating, Wholesome LIVING! I actually think the two coincide. Think about it. If your kitchen is unorganized, cluttered, and just not appealing to you at all as you walk in, then you’re not going to spend time in it cooking up healthy meals. Because the space doesn’t promote positive, relaxed, good feelings. Same thing goes with other rooms in a someones house. If the majority of your house isn’t a retreat in some way away from your job and the stress of the outside world, then it effects your life.
So I highly believe in someone’s surroundings affecting their quality of life. And that also includes how healthy a person chooses to eat.
Interior Design isn’t just about the aesthetics of a room. It’s about expressing ones’ self and creating a better environment that promotes relaxation, creativity and productivity.
I’ve taken “before” pictures of my living space and when I’m all done I will share:) For now, I’m all about creating a little sitting area outside for Dan and I to enjoy while drinking our morning coffee. Below is the area I’ll be working on this week:
Dan had to till the entire area in order for us to seed for grass. I started forming the rocks around the tree, and I’ll be using my lawn chairs I got from Ikea, but without the cushions since they will be out in the open. Hopefully our grass will grow fast!
a little inspiration from my dad…
my new little helpers…Winston and Coby. Kruz is ecstatic he has friends to play with now!
Stay tuned for my added design ideas!
As for food goes, tonight I’ll be making everyone my Spanish Chorizo + Poached Egg Salad and enjoying it in the backyard (so nice to have a yard again!)
